GAME, the European retailer, announced that they want to experiment with self-publishing games.
If they are interested in dealing with PC games, I think Braid could be an ideal case for them, for various reasons. I hate cold-calling, though, so I wonder if anyone reading this blog knows someone in a relevant position at GAME. I will owe you one!
wow, normally when I take I look round game I feel sick about whats available, but this is a step forward. sadly I don’t know anybody with any strings to pull though. just don’t be afraid to cold call though if its needed ๐
I wish I could help you out, but unfortunately I don’t know anyone from GAME. On the topic of publishing though, have you tought about Steam?
I guess some people hate it and some love it. Me, I love it. I would certainly buy Braid from Steam! And if you got some achievements thrown in that would just be some added value ๐
I did talk to the Steam guys a while back, but (as I may have mentioned in comments before) they weren’t super-interested in the game — they would publish it, but it didn’t seem like a very good fit for the steam user-base at the time.
There is an online publisher who I am in talks with, who is very interested in the game, though.
It seems odd that Braid wouldn’t be “good fit” for the Steam user-base. I mean they have everything from Prey to Peggle up there. For example, that new Penny Arcade game was released on it and that is hardly a Valve-style first person shooter. Hope you find a good venue regardless.
Ahh… sorry, haven’t read through older posts comments so I’ve missed if you’ve talked about it before.
Too bad that was their response. I mean with Braid’s unique style of puzzles and graphics one would think they would be all over it. They could really need a good platform game to fill in that genre.
Anyway, it would still be cool to see it there ๐
Good luck either way!
Yeah. Braid may make it to Steam eventually; it’s just not a priority.
Have you had any nibbles from GAME yet? I’ll try feeding it in through my contacts here and we can see if it propagates up the line.
