David Hellman on the graphic art for Braid.

Braid has a unique art style, developed by David Hellman. Over at his blog, he’s begun explaining how the style came about. His first posting shows the earliest experiments in terms of color and style; I imagine he’ll go step-by-step through development until we get to the finished game.

Here’s one of the early prototypes:

Also, don’t miss the link to the Braid page in David’s portfolio, which also has discussion of the art style, and why and how it came to be what it is.

Hi there! Braid looks great, you can be sure I’ll be one of the first to buy it! I’m really interested in the development of indie games, and I love programming. If there’s any tips you could give me, send them to support@mighty-thunder.co.uk!

This link: ” http://davidhellman.blogspot.com/2008/03/braid-artist-developer-diary-part-i.html ” gives me a ‘Google Error’ page. Even when clicking that exact same link on davidhellman.blogspot.com … perhaps it’s because of the ‘links to this page’- Google thing? Anyways, it’s still quite easy to find on his blog page, but just to let you know.

Hmm, now his main blog page seems to be down too. Hopefully this is a temporary problem.
